December 24, 2002  According to the Ministry of Finance, owing to strong auto, computer, and semiconductor sales overseas, Japan’s trade surplus jumped 80.9% in November to 890 billion yen ($7.7 billion) in November.  The US-Japan November trade balance stands at 780 billion yen.

December 24, 2002  Financial Services Minister Heizo Takenaka said that the Koizumi government’s Economic and Fiscal Policy Council is considering whether to adopt a coordinated monetary policy between the government and the central bank (Bank of Japan).
